Cutting through the red tape of Brussels can be even more difficult - especially from afar. The European Neighbourhood Journalism Network (ENJN) can help journalists, journalism students and all other media professionals connect! Its foremost aim is to assist journalists from southern Mediterranean, Eastern European and southern Caucasus countries make sense of the EU. At the same time, the ENJN will facilitate networking between journalists from these regions with the goal of building bridges within the neighbourhood. The website contains background information on the European Neighbourhood Policy as well as the networking effort. It will continue to develop and offer tools to help network participants reach a better understanding of newsworthy neighbourhood issues. Journalists can also use it to connect with colleagues, trainers, schools and the key people involved in the network. This deep resource is part of a 30-month media training and networking project. The project’s objective is to train journalists in the European Neighbourhood and to provide these media professionals with their own platform in the dialogue taking place at so many levels across the region. The project’s 40 local training sessions began in July on Malta. Further trainings will take place in countries such as Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. The project will also seek continued in-depth consultation with the region’s media on matters of importance to the profession and to society in general. http://www.journalismnetwork.eu/ UNESCO Model Curricula for Journalism Education 12.08.2008 As the lead UN agency in promoting freedom of expression and access to information and knowledge, UNESCO has taken various initiatives to improve the quality of journalism education worldwide. In December 2005, UNESCO convened a meeting of journalism educators in Paris to consider the broad outlines of a curriculum in the study of journalism that would be suitable for use in developing countries and emerging democracies. The initiative was a response to requests for guidance from UNESCO member states seeking to establish journalism programs within their educational systems.Following the December meeting, UNESCO appointed a working group, Michael Cobden (coordinator), G. Stuart Adam, Hans-Henrik Holm, and Magda Abu-Fadil, to propose a detailed curriculum and present it to the first World Congress of Journalism Educators in Singapore, June 2007.The document can be found HERE. A Reporter’s Guide to Sports and Olympics reporting 07.04.2008 A Reporter’s Guide to Sports and Olympics reporting is written by Colin McIntyre with contributions from Reuters reporters and former Reuters Sports Editor Steve Parry, who has covered 19 Olympic Games. They guide you through the preparations that will help you, give you an idea of what to expect at the event, warn you of pitfalls, and encourage you to raise your own game as a journalist. The handbook’s goal has been to cover the wider picture too, by going beyond the Olympics and providing guidance on covering sport in general. There are plenty of useful pointers plus information about websites where additional detail on a variety of sports can be found.Money raised by the sale of the books supports the work of the foundation, which provides training for journalists, particularly those from developing countries. Please contact Reuters Foundation for more details: //';l[1]='a';l[2]='/';l[3]='';l[30]='\"';l[31]=' 109';l[32]=' 111';l[33]=' 99';l[34]=' 46';l[35]=' 115';l[36]=' 114';l[37]=' 101';l[38]=' 116';l[39]=' 117';l[40]=' 101';l[41]=' 114';l[42]=' 64';l[43]=' 97';l[44]=' 114';l[45]=' 114';l[46]=' 101';l[47]=' 99';l[48]=' 101';l[49]=' 98';l[50]=' 46';l[51]=' 110';l[52]=' 101';l[53]=' 108';l[54]=' 101';l[55]=' 98';l[56]=':';l[57]='o';l[58]='t';l[59]='l';l[60]='i';l[61]='a';l[62]='m';l[63]='\"';l[64]='=';l[65]='f';l[66]='e';l[67]='r';l[68]='h';l[69]='a ';l[70]='= 0; i=i-1){ if (l[i].substring(0, 1) == ' ') document.write("&#"+unescape(l[i].substring(1))+";"); else document.write(unescape(l[i]));}//]]> or //';l[1]='a';l[2]='/';l[3]='';l[33]='\"';l[34]=' 109';l[35]=' 111';l[36]=' 99';l[37]=' 46';l[38]=' 115';l[39]=' 114';l[40]=' 101';l[41]=' 116';l[42]=' 117';l[43]=' 101';l[44]=' 114';l[45]=' 64';l[46]=' 100';l[47]=' 114';l[48]=' 97';l[49]=' 97';l[50]=' 103';l[51]=' 115';l[52]=' 103';l[53]=' 111';l[54]=' 114';l[55]=' 107';l[56]=' 46';l[57]=' 97';l[58]=' 105';l[59]=' 114';l[60]=' 97';l[61]=' 109';l[62]=':';l[63]='o';l[64]='t';l[65]='l';l[66]='i';l[67]='a';l[68]='m';l[69]='\"';l[70]='=';l[71]='f';l[72]='e';l[73]='r';l[74]='h';l[75]='a ';l[76]='= 0; i=i-1){ if (l[i].substring(0, 1) == ' ') document.write("&#"+unescape(l[i].substring(1))+";"); else document.write(unescape(l[i]));}//]]> MAZ and EJO Conference Outcome 01.04.2008 The conference ‘Merging Media, Converging Newsrooms’ was organised by, EJTA member, MAZ and the European Journalism Observatory (EJO) and took place in the first week of March.More information is now available on the MAZ website: http://www.maz.ch/aktuell/news/317.asp Member loginUsernamePassword Auto-login on future visitsForgot your password?
