Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, November 22, 2008.
A strong low pressure system will be located just offshore of New England, and will make its way northward toward northern Maine, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick during the day on Saturday. This system will remain close enough to the coast to produce snow showers and blistery winds to New England and parts of the Mid-Atlantic, although no significant snow accumulation is expected across the region except for areas in higher elevations. Meanwhile, northwestern Pennsylvania, as well as southwestern and central New York will continue to see lake effect snow on Saturday. Several inches of snow are expected in the areas where the lake effect snow is the heaviest.
Mostly to partly sunny skies will prevail across the Ohio Valley down to the Southeast as high pressure is expected to dominate on Saturday. However, temperatures will remain cold as the high pressure will continue to push cold air down into the Southeast, and the region can expect a high in the 50s during the day and below freezing temperatures at night.
The Northern Plains and Upper Midwest will see some clouds and possibly a few flurries as a weak trough moves over the region on Saturday. Relatively high pressure will keep the rest of the Plains mostly clear during the day, except for parts of central and southern Texas, who can expect clouds and a few showers due to onshore flow from the Gulf.
A cold front trekking across the Northwest will bring rain to region during the day on Saturday, with snow likely in the higher elevations. Meanwhile, mild and pleasant conditions will prevail across the Southwest on Saturday due to the presence of high pressure.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of -38 degrees at Alva, Okla to a high of 84 degrees at Ramona, Calif.
